Excel Publish
The Excel Publish feature allows administrators to control which data models are available to users through the Add‑in. Only published data models appear in the Excel Add‑in, which streamlines the user experience and helps reduce unnecessary load times.
note
Limiting the number of published data models improves performance. The more models that are available, the slower the Excel Add‑in becomes during loading.
When to use Excel Publish
- Publishing relevant models: Limit available models so users see only what’s necessary.
- Improving load times: Optimize the responsiveness of the Excel Add-in popup by reducing the number of published models.
- Reducing add-in strain Limit published models to avoid performance issues in environments with many data models.
Publish a data model
- From the navigation panel, click the gear icon at the bottom. The Administration page opens.
- Select Excel Publish from the menu.
- Select the checkbox next to each data model you want to publish.
The Published column updates automatically to Yes.
When users open the Excel Add-in, only the published data models appear in the popup. Users can then select a model to retrieve data, apply prompts, and create formulas directly in Excel.
